Yahoo Inspires with the Backgammon Game
Once again yahoo was able to create an edge over other internet search engines and providers. Since their humble beginnings, yahoo developed into one of the biggest internet service providers, and besides catering to the masses with e-mail, and instant messenger services, yahoo was able to also cater to news-hungry individuals.
The latest but not the last addition to the yahoo group is "Yahoo Games" which are games that are provided by yahoo which the internet user can either download or play online. These games are usually java applications or they also come in flash games. Currently in the top twenty of the yahoo games list is our favorite; the backgammon game.
The backgammon game on yahoo is a java application, and is designed as an open room for all players to enter. The classifications are social, beginner, intermediate, advanced, ladder, and league. These platforms indicate the skill level that an online player is in. You will find yourself in a room, where you can chat with other players in the room, and where you can choose to join an existing table or if you would like to create a backgammon game yourself.
The interesting part about the yahoo backgammon game is that you can also watch an ongoing game and observe game strategies and get to know the other players better and see if your skills really match theirs. Once you are in the actual game table, you can again choose to sit and play, or watch. If you have created the table, you have the power to invite other players or boot them out of your table.
The backgammon game interface is kept very simple and the graphics and layout of the game are simple as well. The colors of the board in the backgammon game are indeed a little from the golden age, since the base is green and the points are red and beige. The actual game interface is a little clumsy and sometimes hard to handle, as you have to double click each chip, and it might move back etc.
Aside from the little mishaps of the program, the yahoo backgammon game is still a good game which you could spend hours online with, since you are not playing against a computer, but against other players which you can even forge friendships with. The overall rating of the yahoo backgammon game would be a total of eight points out of ten, because the interface is a little stiff, but the backgammon game is easy to handle and still makes a lot of fun playing.
